The Lauterbrunnen Valley is one of the biggest nature conservation areas in Switzerland with 72 roaring waterfalls, including the Stabbach Falls, which plunge almost 300 metres from an overhanging rock face; secluded valleys; colourful alpine meadows; and lonely mountain inns.

The holiday resort of Lenk lies at an altitude of 1068 metres, at the very rear of the Simmen valley in a wide opening. Here, the Wildstrubel massif forms one of the most beautiful valley closures in the Alps. With its homely Simmen valley chalets, Lenk is a nature paradise with a particularly wide network of summer walking trails and, in the colder season, an attractive winters sports region with links to neighbouring areas.

The tradition-imbued holiday resort of Meiringen lies in the long Hasli valley, south east of Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland. Many attractions are associated with the icy glacier waters from the nearby mountains. In summer the high plateau of Hasliberg constitutes an expansive walking region, in winter the resort’s attractions are aimed at younger and older ski hounds.
