The holiday region of ENGADINE/Scuol is a landscape of “National Park quality”. Not only because of the Swiss National Park nearby, but also because of the mighty castle of Tarasp, the distinctive Engadine villages and their houses with traditional sgraffito decoration on the walls, and the Romansh language and culture that is part of day-to-day life here.

Wellness of National Park quality
There are more than 20 natural mineral water springs in and around Scuol. At the moment ten of them are utilised: for mineral water for drinking, for naturally carbonated mineral water baths, and for the “Engadin Bad Scuol” spa complex. Enjoy the warmth in the large indoor pool, relax in the hot whirlpool bath, float in the salt-water pool – or simply wallow in the outdoor pool and soak up the glorious views of the Swiss National Park and the majestic mountains of the Lower Engadine.

The Roman-Irish bathing ceremony
This is a fusion of two very different European bathing traditions. The imperial Romans swore by the benefits of relaxing in steam baths of varying temperatures; the ancient Irish tradition, meanwhile, involved hot, dry air. In the sophisticated spa culture of the nineteenth century, these two traditions were blended to form a new bathing ritual, which also incorporates a soapand- brush massage that both cleanses the skin and stimulates the circulation. At the end, wrapped in a warm towel, you rest – enveloped in the soft light of the room, or gazing out at the panoramic view of the mountains of the Lower Engadine.
