All you could wish for: Numbers like this get the pulse going… 90 skilifts serving 410 km of piste rising as high as Mont-Fort (3,330 m) make the winter sports area of Les 4 Vallées – the “Four Valleys” – one of superlatives.

At its heart lies Verbier, with its picturesque chalets, built with great love for detail. The resort has maintained the character of a typical Valais village, although it has a modern infrastructure, lively nightlife and packed event programme that come as a surprise to many guests.

A taste of magic

What really excites the best skiers, snowboarders and freeriders about Verbier is the variety of sensational superpistes at high, snowsure altitudes. Such as the magical Vallon d’Arby – only for experienced skiers, and extremely demanding. But it is wonderfully romantic, too: after the start of the run at Attelas you pass a small, frozen waterfall, under which you can hear the water gurgling. Later you have the choice of three ways of tackling the slope, depending on your technical ability. Patrollers inform skiers and riders of the risks, and if conditions are poor, the descent is closed. (It is particularly recommended to tackle the Vallon d’Arby with a guide.)
