The "Öpfelchammer", endearingly called "Oeli", is the Number One meeting place for everybody. It was also Gottfried Keller’s restaurant of choice and it is Zürich’s oldest and most authentically preserved tavern. To this day the old traditions of a wine restaurant are honored with the famous Balkenprobe, or beam test. The “Oeli” also has its own “laws”.

You will find the “Oeli", as our Oepfelchammer is affectionally called in Zürich’s Old Town. It is Zürich’s oldest and most authentically preserved tavern. The Oepfelchammer, with its unique ambience, has been one of our city’s renowned sights since 1801. This tradition-rich meeting place hosted many well-known poets and novelists. The restaurant has been owned and operated for fifty years by the same family. A cozy ambience, excellent cuisine with Swiss specialties and first-class regional wine continue to delight the guests. Whether it’s the rustic wine tavern, the refined atmosphere of the Züri-Stüblis or the dining room, you will find here the perfect setting for private events or company functions.
