The nature reserves at Lake Niederried and Lake Wohlensee are resting places for numerous migrating birds. The two reservoirs are located somewhere in the no-mans-land between Berne and Biel, and the prevailing peace and quiet is most welcome to the visitor. You finally feel you are far from the madding crowd, away from the hurly-burly of the tourism infrastructure. A dense network of single, forest and field trails criss-cross the lakes and wooded hills. This really is the ideal place to go off on an extended mountain bike tour of discovery.
