North of Mendriso, Monte Generoso rises like a colossal sentinel into the sky. It is regarded as one of Ticino's most beautiful vantage points. At its southern flank, the sunny Valle di Muggio extends down to Mendrisio. It is the starting point of this breathtaking mountain biking tour. The Genoroso massif is not a beginner's territory, because from Muggio onwards, challenging trails define the tour. You will be rewarded for the demanding ascent in Bellavista where an incomparable view awaits. Breathe deeply and recharge your batteries is the motto here, before the technically challenging descent begins.
Mendrisio - Castel S.Pietro - Obino - Monte - Casima - Cabbio - Muggio - Bellavista - Salorino - Mendrisio
The tour starts in Mendrisio and leads at first via a narrow mountain road into Valle di Muggio. A lengthy and gradually rising trail leads up to Bellavista. Even for experienced bikers the downhill ride back to Mendrisio is challenging. This single trail is stony and steep. If you have installed a well-functioning suspension fork with sufficient travel, you are in good shape.
Less experienced bikers may want to use the asphalt road for the downhill.
