Wildhaus is situated in a picture-perfect landscape between the Säntis and Churfirsten massifs at the upper edge of the Toggenburg Region. In the east you will see the wide and flat Rhine Valley near St. Gallen. Right behind it, the peaks of Liechtenstein and Vorarlberg loom at the horizon. This fantastic mountain panorama is visible almost throughout the entire bike tour. This tour begins with a long downhill ride, which is unique for a tour's beginning, but it is nevertheless quite attractive. Equal in length, but studded with scenic highlights, is the second part of the tour: the ascent back to Wildhaus.
Wildhaus - Schönenboden - Zollhaus - Lehen - Gamperfin - Oelberg - Oberdorf - Höchi - Wildhaus
The Oelberg loop begins on the mountain pass above Wildhaus, from where you will cycle leisurely towards Schönenboden. After three kilometers your descent to Grabs begins. At first you will ride down an ancient Roman path, but later on the tour conducts you on forest trails down to the main road. In the hairpin curve of Chretzibach, the tour branches off in the direction of Simmitobel. You will cross a bridge on the Simmi rivulet before you reach Grabs. At Stockengasse in Grabs, the 14-kilometer ascent to Mt. Ölberg begins. Via Lehen it's off to Maienberg and onward to Gamperfin. A pebble road finally takes you up to the Ölberg Mountain. The last leg of the tour guides you across the Freienalp to Oberdorf and ultimately via Lisighaus back to Wildhaus.
