Gempen

Gempen

From the point of view of bikers, the Bürenfluh is one of the most popular places in the Basle region. The attraction for them is a single trail nearly 3 km long. Difficult at the bottom, but never dangerous, the trail winds through the wood. The nearby Schartenfluh with its numerous trails and viewing tower make this a perfect area for biking. The Bürenfluh loop begins gently on the stretch from Liestal to Lupsingen. The first mountain you come to is the Chleckenberg. The route goes down to Büren and then back up to the Bürenfluh. The crowning glory of the tour is the first-rate downhill section from the Schartenfluh into the Röserental, and then back to Liestal.

Liestal - Lupsingen - Chleckenberg - Büren - Bürenfluh - Gempen - Schartenfluh - Stollen - Röserental - Liestal

From Liestal station the route follows the Jura Mountain Trail through Oristal up to Lupsingen and on to the Chleckenberg. From here, it takes you on wide paths down to Büren in Solothurn. First following the footpath towards Hochwald and on a wide forest track after the hunting lodge, you come to the start of the Bürenfluh trail. This takes you southwards to a woodland village belonging to the district of Hochwald. Still following the Jura Mountain Trail, you come to Gempen and then the Schartenfluh. The downhill stretch to Liestal leads you first down to Stollen, then to Gmeinacher and finally through the Röserental valley back to where the tour started.
