Thinking of the traditional Appenzell may not immediately brin biking to mind, but the hilly landscape is tailor-made for it. The view to Säntis massif is omnipresent so that one is never disorientated. The technical challenges over this round tour stretching over 37 km are not too daunting, but the loop is quite tough. Nearly 1'000 m's of difference in latitude are not chicken-feed. And those who at the end of the tour are still full of energy can enjoy the picturesque old town of Appenzell.
