The river Ticino first flows through the Val Bedretto, before it passes through Leventina and finally merges into Lago Maggiore. The name Val Bedretto is derived from the word "bedra", which means birch-tree. You will see birch-trees from time to time during this tour. Pine and larch are also part and parcel of the valley. The views of the Gotthard massif, the Piz Rotondo and the Chüebodenhorn, as seen from the summer pastures, are particularly beautiful. And the trails? Let's just say they're simply sensational. The highest points of the route have become a byword for biking fun and skill.
