The pre-Alpine character of the Greyerz region lends itself to magnificent bike tours, the loop from Charmey to the vantage point of La Berra and back is excellent proof. Past the monastery of La Valsainte you have to overcome a fairly steep ascent before the grass-covered peak of Berra opens up to a magnificent view all around. To the west you will see the entire Jura chain, to the north the view opens up far into Mittelland. In the east loom the Bernese Alps and in the south the striking ridge of the Dents Vertes will captivate you. Enjoy the breathtaking vista before you ride on marvelous trails down to the Jaun Valley.
Charmey - Cerniat - La Valsainte - Les Botteys - La Berra - L'Auta Chia - La Valsainte - Grand Pra - Les Ciernes - Charmey
The tour begins in Charmey and at first follows the main road in the direction of Bulle. After a few kilometers the route turns right and then runs into the valley up to the monastery of La Valsiante. Starting from here, an Alpine trail wends its way up in the direction of Le Berra. The trail's upper section is very steep and difficult. The last few meters you have to push your bike. The subsequent single trail to L'Auta Chia is simply the best. At L'Auta Chia the tour takes you on a road down to La Valsainte. At the monastery the tour makes a left turn which leads into the valley. At the other side of the valley an easy single trail takes you back to Charmey.
