Horse-drawn sleigh

Swiss traditions are still alive in Arosa: in the age of ultra-modern gondolas, you can still take a romantic horse-drawn sleigh through the crystal-clear winter night, up into the mountains.

Medergen

Arosa is set amidst a stunning Alpine countryside, and the best tip is to explore the area to your heart's content! One particularly fine walking trail leads alongside rushing mountain streams and through lush green meadows, aflame with wildflowers in early summer, to the traditional Alpine village Medergen, with its original wooden buildings.

Prätschsee lake

Otherwise, walk to the startlingly blue Prätschsee lake - a grand spot for a summer picnic amidst the magnificent mountains surrounding the village.

Untersee lake

All summer long, the place to be is the Untersee lake, an idyllic retreat with a sandy beach, sun loungers and deck chairs, a restaurant and beach volleyball.

Weisshorn mountain

Arosa's network of cable-cars provides a variety of great views, no less the gondola rising from the little Obersee lake in the town centre up to the mighty Weisshorn, at 2653 m (8700ft).
