It was not by accident that a noble hotel was built in Urnerland's Maderaner Valley in 1865. Guests at that time looked for the same experiences as today's hikers: A quiet, wild mountain valley with a rich flora and a romantic mountain panorama, including glaciers and waterfalls. By the wayside along the gushing Kärstelen stream, crystals are offered for sale and historical markers recall harsh winters and avalanches. Gentle highlights of the tour are a respite in the romantic garden of the historic Hotel Maderanertal and a walk to magical Lake Butzli.

Other attraction: A Nature Trail in the mountains above Maderaner Valley, Lake Golzern (cablecar), and a restored melting furnace near the valley station of the Golzern cablecar are to be found here

For families: Lake Butzli 10 min from Hotel Maderanertal.
