The high alpine route begins quite flat, as it leaves Rigi- Kaltbad in direction of Rigi-Scheidegg. Be sure to take a look at Lake Luzern deep below. At the Hinter Dossen turn left, always hiking towards Rigi-Scheidegg. This area is quite busy if the weather is good. From here on, follow the directional signs indicating Brunnen/ Urmiberg. At the "Gätterli" the trail forks off to the Urmiberg cable-car, which is built right into the cliff. Once more, one gets a great view of Lake Uri and the Uri Alps before the small aerial cable-car hits Brunnen on the shores of Lake Luzern.

Return from Urmiberg to Brunnen by aerial cable-car. There, take the bus to Vitznau and take the cogwheel train up to Rigi-Kaltbad.

Mt.Rigi offers a cornucopia of hikes but the hike from Rigi- Kaltbad to the Urmiberg is one of the prettiest and most popular ones. One can glean up to four lakes simultaneously, as well as a splendid alpine panorama. Along the way, cozy mountain inns offer snacks and meals.
