Chasseron
The Chasseron peak, over 1600 m high, is at the centre of this walk through the Jura of the Waadtland with its many wonderful views. However, at the starting point in La Combaz, something quite different is the centre of attention. Hordes of hungry guests come on a pilgrimage up here to the Pampa to taste the "Beignets au fromage"; a speciality that is obviously well-loved for miles around. Then, with a full belly, you can set off. The path goes up and down, up and down to the foot of the Chasseron. Then a long climb - firstly through woodland and then across typical Jura meadows - takes you up to the rocky promontory of the summit of the Chasserons. From up there, there is a vast panorama. After climbing a second peak, you then begin the steep descent to Ste-Croix.

La Combaz - Chasseron - Ste-Croix

The station in Couvet is an ideal starting point for this walk. From there, you go up to La Combaz on the bus (note: the buses only run in summer and only on Saturdays and Sundays). The rest of the route is marked by the yellow and red signs of the Jura Mountain Trail. You just walk from La Combaz, always following for Ste-Croix, it's easy. From Ste-Croix you can go by bus to Fleurier and from there by bus back to Couvet.
