Crête de la Neuve
Crête de la Neuve
Park-like landscapes and magnificent views of Lake Geneva and the Savoy Alps are the main features of this walk. From the Col du Marchairuz, the Jura Mountain Trail leads through typical Jura woods, always heading south-west. Between the woods are colourful flower-filled meadows. You should reach the Crête de la Neuve after just over an hour. The panorama is stunning. Towering over everything else is the peak of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps. In front is the wide sweep of Lake Geneva. The view extends from the Rhône delta in the east to Geneva's Jet d'Eau in the west. As you go down towards St-Cergue, the scenery gradually changes. More and more deciduous trees are mixed in with the dark pine trees. Finally, after passing the ruined monastery of Oujon, the walk takes you to the tourist resort of St-Cergue.
