Access starting point: By public transportation or car from Bern via Gstaad, or from Lausanne via Aigle to Col du Pillon. Drivers can conveniently park at Gsteig near the Valley Station of the Sanetsch train and continue from Gsteig to Col zu Pillon by public bus.

There is hardly any circular hiking tour in the mountains that is as multi-faceted as this loop. You can ascend Glacier3000 from Col du Pillon by means of the new aerial cableway. It is here that the first surprise awaits the visitor: the mountain station and panorama restaurant designed by the renowned architect Mario Botta. A safe hiking tour leads across snowfields (summer skiing area) to Quille du Diable, the prominent "Thumb" with the High Alps of the Valais (Matterhorn!) as backdrop. For people not prone to dizziness: The 1,500-meter view down to the landslide area of Derborence! Continue hiking the mountains on the snow and across boulders (in late summer), down to Cabanne Prarochet offering congenial small meals and refreshments (overnight stays are possible).
In the pre-glacier area, the trail leads across rocks polished smooth (les lapis) to the Sanetsch Pass and the riverhead of the Saane - fresh water bubbling right out of the soil in the middle of an Alpine pasture! The circular hiking trail leads across the gently rolling hills of the high plateau and then along the Sanetsch Reservoir Lake to the well-known mountain restaurant of Jean-Maurice Luyet, where you will find also a small chapel. Thanks to the hydroelectric plant's small aerial passenger tram, the tired but happy wanderer reaches the valley floor of Gsteig near Gstaad effortlessly. (Please note: Before the visit to the restaurant, "seat reservations" can be made during rush hours at the mountain station).

For families: A hike only suitable for accompanying children who have prior experience in mountain hiking. Sturdy but comfortable boots are imperative.
