The spectacular Churfirsten range
Chäserrugg
Select your Region:

The Toggenburg valley is surrounded by the mighty peaks of the Churfirsten range and the Säntis. The precipitous rock formations contrast sharply with the gentle landscape on the valley floor. This valley with its many legends is one of the most beautiful walking areas in Switzerland. Countless lifts, mountain restaurants and well-marked footpaths ensure that your hikes, offering you such outstanding views, will be really enjoyable. The mountain route up to the Chäserrugg is no exception. This walk, which is difficult mainly where it goes downhill, passes through fantastic mountain scenery with breathtaking views all around.
Iltios - Stöfeli - Chäserrugg - Hinterrugg - Iltios
The starting point for this mountain walk to the Chäserrugg is the Unterwasser cable-car station. A long climb, steep in places, then leads up from Iltios to the Stöfeli and on to the summit of the Chäserrugg. The views down on to the Walensee are vast. After the Chäserrugg, you cross over to the Hinterrugg. The descent which follows from the Hinterrugg to Iltios is far steeper and more difficult than that from the Chäserrugg. Finally, you take the cable-car from Iltios back down to Unterwasser.
