Hundsrügg

The mountain walk from the Jaunpass over the Hundsrügg to the Rellerligrat peak is one of the classic high-altitude routes in the Bernese Oberland, offering both colourful alpine meadows and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Your gaze is drawn irresistibly to the chain of peaks including the Gastlosen, the Sattelspitzen, the impressive Wandfluh and the Zuckerspitz. Away on the horizon behind them rise the Waadtland Alps. Looking back, the view is of the picturesque Simmental valley and the mighty Stockhorn. And to the south-east, the snowy peak of the Wildstrubel towers up into the sky. To the left and right of the mountain path extends a vast expanse of alpine flowers: wild rhododendrons, speedwell, arnica and, and, and ... Stunningly beautiful!

Jaunpass - Hundsrügg - Bire - Rellerligrat

Climbing at first gently and later quite steeply, the route leads steadily up from the Jaunpass towards Hundsrügg. Then you follow paths down from the summit through fields full of flowers to Luegele and on to Hof Bire. The final part of this alpine route to the Rellerligrat peak is nearly flat but still offers wonderful views.
