The mighty and imposing Sissacher Fluh is the emblem of Sissach, dominating the valley below. The climb up from the main town of this region takes just over an hour, and the view from the rocky summit is magnificent, extending from the Vosges and the Jura right round to the Alps. There are similarly impressive views from the 30 m high viewing tower which stands on the Schleifenberg. In between, you walk through beautiful deciduous woods. Holly trees line the route, here and there forming a kind of tunnel. Your destination is the canton capital, Liestal. A visit to the Old Town with its many interesting sights makes a fine conclusion to this interesting walk.

At the beginning of the tour, the path climbs by nearly 400 metres, up from Sissach station to the Sissacher Fluh. Then a lovely mountain path goes up and down, up and down over to the Schleifenberg. The descent to Liestal which follows is steep and quite tricky. Finally, you walk through the picturesque Old Town to reach the station in Liestal.
