Classic walk in the Lötschental
Lötschental
Select your Region:

Whichever direction you walk the Lötschental mountain path - whether
from the Fafleralp to the Lauchernalp and on to Goppenstein or the
other way round - this must be one of the most impressive high-altitude
routes of its kind. Gushing mountain streams rush down from the
glaciers on the surrounding mountains, contrasting with the still
waters of the picturesque Schwarzsee. The walk passes through fragrant
woods and flower-filled alpine meadows. High above the path stands the
glacier-capped Petersgrat, contrasting with the lush green of the woods
and fields. On the opposite side of the valley, the Bietschhorn, nearly
4000 m high, stands out among the mountain giants.
Fafleralp - Schwarzsee - Tellialp - Weritzstafel - Lauchernalp
The mountain walk begins on the Fafleralp and keeps following the signs for Lauchernalp. A generally narrow path winds along the right-hand side of the valley towards the west. Passing the picturesque Schwarzsee, you come to the Tellialp. Then there is a short climb, before the last section of the tour runs steadily downhill from the hamlet of Weritzstafel to the Lauchernalp. Finally, you go back down by cable-car to the valley, where there is a regular bus service between Goppenstein and the Fafleralp.
