The functionality of the bridge, which was rebuilt after a flood, is a memorial and at the same time an important element of city architecture. The bridge is a joint project of Cygns Engineering AG and of the architect Matthias Werlen from Brig, who have incorporated esthetic considerations into their design. The Saltina Bridge is the first lifting bridge that is elevated by.flood waters.
