Perle du Lac and Botanical Garden
Overlooking the lake, a small panoramic viewpoint shows the idyllic scene where the poet Lamartine loved to stop and think. The park starts at rue de Lausanne and visitors are immediately greeted by a monumental fountain with two layers. There is also a garden full of dahlias that flower in the autumn. At the end of the park, there is a little door allowing visitors to disembark the "mouettes genevoises", the boats linking the two sides of the lake.

The park has a Thai pavilion, a gift from His Majesty King Bhumibol of Thailand, in appreciation of the years he spent studying in Lausanne.

Baroness Antoinette de Saint Léger transformed this island in 1885 into a paradisiacal, exotic garden. Today it is the Canton of Ticino's Botanical Garden (2.5 hectares). Thanks to its mild subtropical climate, some 1,500 plant species from the Mediterranean region, the subtropical regions and Asia, South Africa, America and Australia thrive here.

The Camellia Park in Locarno is a true treasure embedded in natural surroundings; 900 different Camellia plants spread over 10’000 square meters and growing in around 30 flowerbeds. Further there are two small lakes with water features, an information pavilion and a small arena in the park.
