The "Goldene Schäfli" is the butchers' former guild house and a typical St.Gallen second-floor pub. First floor and mezzanine date back to the time after 1484. Already at that time, the butchers' guild was accommodated here. Due to the sinking ground-water level, the building has sunk gradually, so that ceilings and floor are today 33 cm lower than originally.
