Excursions 
That the author Johanna Spyri spent her holidays in the Graubünden was
certainly no coincidence - the region inspired her creativity and was
the source for her world-famous "Heidi"-.
She easily found suitable settings, just like the old hamlet above
Maienfeld - today known as "Heidi Village"- (660 m), and the start of the
Heidi Trail, a charming journey through history and time. You won't
find Heidi's house, but you will discover the Luva Forest and Peter the
goatherd's house, before arriving at the Ochsenberg at 1,111 m, where
Heidi's grandfather, the Alpöhi, is more than happy to be photographed
with visiting children. And should you feel up to it, then take the
longer Heidi Trail via Kaltboden to Jenins, and earn yourself a dip in
the thermal baths of Bad Ragaz.
