Lose all sense of direction as the little train travels deeper and deeper into the mountain. And when it stops, the north face of the Eiger, and later the sea of ice, become visible through holes in the rock. Finally you reach the top: gaze at row upon row of mountain peaks which lie before the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Alpine choughs dive deep down into the valleys of the Bernese Oberland, and on the other side, the mighty Aletsch glacier flows down into the Valais. The views and thin air at 3,571m will take your breath away. Visit the ice palace with its perpetual ice sculptures, take a trip on a dog sled or climb up to the Mönchsjoch Hut – it’s all part of the mountain dream. Then take the little train back down the mountain, past landscape superlatives like the Lauberhorn and the Staubbach Falls, and through dense forests and green meadows, to Interlaken.

Typically Swiss - the PostBus
Yellow, a 100 years old and beautifully in tune - the Swiss PostBus. Epitome of reliability, continuity and limitless travel in the Swiss Alps. With its three-note horn echoing around the valleys since 1906, the PostBus carries an average of 100 million passengers over 10,000 km per year to the most remote corners of the country, including the National Park (4 routes). its melodious "do-da-dah" - C sharp, E, A - was inspired by Rossini's William Tell overture, but is almost certainly more widely recognized than the original! Whenever heard, it inspires romance, and in spite of its incredibly modern fleet, also a touch of nostalgia. For more information about the PostBus, visit: www.postabus.chMore links
