Lake Lucerne
The scenic boat routes on Lake Lucerne extend for 38 km; they in turn access hundreds of kilometres of footpaths leading to the most beautiful corners of the historic heart of Switzerland.
Up on the Bürgenstock, for example, a cliff path with stunning views connects the Bürgenstock Hotels with the vertiginous Hammetschwand panoramic lift – an adventure in itself, only for those with a head for heights. Then there’s the Obwalden-Nidwalden high trail from the Pilatus to Klewenalp, and the historic Sbrinz Route through Unterwalden – and to keep you going, mountain trout from Melchsee-Frutt and alpine cheese from Fluonalp. Also along the way are the pilgrimage site of St. Nicholas the peacemaker in Flüeli-Ranft, a wildlife trail in Emmetten and an adventure playground on the Wirzweli.
