It would be hard to find better value anywhere: up here on the sunny mountain terrace of Villars-Gryon, the views of Mont Blanc and the Rhone valley are priceless – and (nearly) everything else is free.
The Free Access Card offers holiday guests unlimited access to public transport and cable cars, as well as to facilities including outdoor tennis courts, a swimming pool and mini-golf. Budding golfers can also enjoy a free introduction on the glorious 18-hole course; while anyone who overdoes things over dinner can work it all off on the 100 km of mountain bike trails – also for free. All this takes place in a glorious, south-facing, panoramic alpine setting. And anyone fancying a day on the beach needn't go far: the shimmering, deep blue Lake Geneva is just half an hour away.
How to get there
Public Transport: SBB train from Geneva Airport (in the direction of Lausanne-Sion) up to Aigle (1 hour 10 min.), then by bus to Villars (35 min.) or SBB train from Geneva Airport (in the direction of Lausanne-Sion) up to Bex (1 hour 15 min.) and BVB train to Villars (35 min.)
By car: 115 km from Geneva Airport (1 hour 20 min.).
Autobahn A1 to Lausanne, then Autobahn A9 from Lausanne in the direction of Martigny-Sion, exit Aigle and then main road to Villars.
