Brig Belalp
Brig is a charming, historic alpine town at the heart of an area offering a broad range of holiday delights. The springs at Brigerbad have been known since the Middle Ages; today they are the largest open-air thermal baths in Switzerland.
The contrasting landscape around Blatten-Belalp, and local people’s firm attachment to their homeland and their traditions, make for a unique magic in this holiday region around the Great Aletsch Glacier – a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage site waiting to be explored. Across the valley, Rosswald and Rothwald are the gateway to a mountain hiking paradise, and good bases for exploring the Simplon region. The sunny village of Mund, meanwhile, is famous for its saffron. A walk from Birgisch through the wild and romantic Gredetsch valley leads along beautifully laidout “bisses” – irrigation canals – all the way to Mund.
Nature

Valley of minerals.

Among mineral aficionados, the wild and romantic Binntal is a classic: more than 160 varieties of crystal, some extremely rare, are found in this nature reserve, which borders directly on the oldest natural park in Piedmont in Italy. Old smugglers’ routes, now marked as footpaths and mountain bike trails, lead up to the passes in just a few hours. The geological centre and educational trail reveal many of the valley’s hidden secrets.

The Jungfrau-Aletsch Region is nowlabelled World Natural Heritage by UNESCO.Known for the extraordinary beauty of its land-scape,it is the first and only site in the Alps tobear this honorable distinction.
