This much-loved holiday destination on the Gotthard massif has a lot to
offer. From the mild southern shores of Lake Urner and the picturesque
villages - often under preservation order - or the romantically wild
valleys, to the idyllic mountain lakes and the gleaming snow fields of
the majestic mountains, many of them over 3,000 m high.
The home of William Tell
The hero from Canton Uri, William Tell, is still very much in evidence today.
The setting for Friedrich Schiller's "William Tell" has long been the stuff of legend - discover it for yourself!
The Swiss Path
Each Swiss citizen "owns" 5mm of the path. This national path leads from the Rütli around Lake Urner, via Seelsiberg. Hike the whole trail, or jump on and off the steamers, trains, cable cars and buses.
