One’s spirit soars in this landscape with its austere
charm, its wide-open expanses that seem to stretch for
ever, beyond every hilltop and forest.
Because the slopes
are generally gentle, the Bernese Jura is perfect for
families to explore, whether on foot or by bike: no less
than four national – and several regional – routes of the
SwitzerlandMobility network run through it, suited to
every taste and level of ability, all clearly signposted. For
mountain bikers, the Chasseral is the ultimate playground;
watch fans will love the remarkable Longines
Museum in St. Imier; while anyone with a sweet tooth will
adore the Camille Bloch chocolate factory in Courtelary.
For a uniquely restful ride, hop aboard a boat in the little
town of La Neuveville, for a gentle cruise on Lake Biel.
