In July 1922 a group of mountain climbers from Horgen decides to found the Zimmerberg Section in order to realize their dream of a hut of their own.

The hut was built in 1893 and during the first few decades of its existence had so many visitors that its capacity had to be increased, first from 26 to 40 and then to 90 bunks. Today this expansion is no longer sufficient.

Nowadays, old hut books make interesting reading. The Doldenhorn Hut’s guestbook starts with verve: “We herewith want to inform future visitors that during the inauguration of this shelter and protective hut on the Doldenhorn today, July 2, 1899, a large number of guests of honor participated in the event with great pleasure.”
