Since the Rhaetian Railways opened the Vereina Tunnel connecting Klosters to the Lower Engadine, it is now possible to do an interesting day trip on a train called the Engadine Star that connects highlight after highlight.
Begin in Chur and ride through the charming Prättigau to Zernez in the Lower Engadine. Zernez is also where the Swiss National Park is. The train, meanwhile rides onwards to sophisticated St. Moritz, with its champagne climate. Here natural beauty rival the glamorous stores that line the main street of the village. Then it is back on the train which returns by way of the Albula Viaduct. It can be done as a day trip or break up the trip and while away the time in each of these wonderful places. Complement the train ride with an hike in the Swiss National Park, an excursion in to the Müstair Valley, and a stroll through the villages of St.Moritz, S-chanf, Zuoz, La Punt.

Drive or take public transportation to Chur, from where the Engadine Star starts.
