The valley station is in Locarno, close to the lake and palm-tree studded quais. The funicular brings one by subtropical gardens and Southern villas, climbing rapidly towards Orselina. Then one gets to Orselina where one takes the aerial cable-car to Cardada. The mountain station Colmanicchio was designed by star architect Mario Botta.
Cardada is one of the most beautiful sunny mountain terraces of Ticino: The view from here is breathtaking. But Mt. Cardada has even more to offer: The landscape park was designed by P. Bürgi, renowned landscape architect, who made certain adjustments that allowed a closer look and insight into this landscape and its soil.
The aerial cableway is a project of the famous Architect Mario Botta. Its valley station gives the impression of a lit lantern and is visible from afar. The mountain station in Colmanicchio resembles a pavilion.
From Cardada, a 2-seat chairlift takes visitors to the peak of Cardada-Cimetta (1672m). An incomparably beautiful vantage point beckons high above the Maggia-Delta: The sweeping view extends from the High Alps across the Lago Maggiore and the chain of hills down to the Po-Delta.
