Zemez is situated in the upper part of the Lower Engadine. It is the starting point of many hiking tours leading to the National Park. But even the tours on flat terrain along the Inn River are very scenic. Pristine romantic forests alternate with green meadows, presided over by the mighty peaks of the Lower Engadine. Discover the villages of Susch und Lavin en route. Above all the village of Susch at the foot of the Flüela Pass, dotted with the typical houses of Graubünden, is a feast for the eyes.
The Swiss National Park, founded on August 1, 1914, extends over 168 square kilometers
Val Trupchun is a side valley of the Inn River, extending about 8 to 10 km southward up to the Swiss-Italian border. It has one of Europe's highest wildlife population densities. You can see stag, deer, chamois, ibexes, marmots, rabbits, foxes, golden eagles, bearded vultures as well as a fantastic flora Thanks to a fine network of hiking trails, hikers of all ages can enjoy an untouched natural landscape
The National Park's environment is considered to be one of the best protected in Europe. Open daily from June to October, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Other attraction: Susch at the foot of the Flüela Pass, with myriad houses typical of Graubünden is a treat for the eyes
For families: The National Park Center in Zernez offers families with children a wealth of information on the Swiss National Park. The permanent marmot exhibit is particularly informative and always greatly enjoyed by children.
The educational nature trail starts at Hotel il Fuorn in the Nature Park.
Various information panels guide adults and children through Parking lot # 8 to Margunet (Bearded vultures) and back. The natural diversity is explained in easy steps
