Waterfalls between Romainmôtier and La Sarraz

Medieval Romainmôtier with its famous abbey church marks the start of a walk which takes you through gorges to view spectacular waterfalls. «Romanum monasterum», first mentioned in the 6th century, is one of the earliest monastery settlements in Switzerland, and one of the most important too. The Nozon Gorge, the «Cascade du Dard» and the «Tine de Conflens» waterfalls are nationally less well known, even though the gorge itself bears a marked resemblance to the Grand Canyon in Colorado.

From Romainmôtier, the trail follows the Nozon Canal to Croy and it is there in the «Nozon Gorge» that you will find the beautiful «Cascade du Dard». After Ferreyres and a gentle climb, there is yet another highlight, the idyllic «Tine de Conflens» waterfalls. If you'd like to visit the majestic castle of La Sarraz, check the opening times first.
