The beauty of the mighty waterfall - height of drop 100 m - and the scenic charms of the surroundings have been described since tourism began. A Sherlock Holmes commemorative plaque by the cable railway reminds the visitor that Conan Doyle was so deeply impressed by the wild beauty of this waterfall that he decided to let his world-famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, fall to his death in the Reichenbach Falls after a fight with his archenemy Prof.Moriarty.
