The narrow-gauge track takes you southwards through some of the most breath-taking landscapes you could hope to see. You will eventually arrive at the foot of the highest mountain in the Alps, at the Chamonix station on the north face of Mont Blanc.
There are steep rack-and-pinion ascents covering 200 promille gradients. These alternate with rather flat stretches running over deep gorges. The small red-and-white train works its way over bridges, around bends and through tunnels and across the peaks and troughs of Trient valley, until you reach the border village of Chatelard.

How to get there:
Drive or take public transport from Lausanne or Brig to Martigny.
