While ibex occupy the front rows perched on the 500-m-high rock face, people gaze down from above, high up on the edge of the Creux du Van natural amphitheatre. The two-hour hike up from Noiraigue is well worth the effort, or bike up from Bourdy, through the wild Areuse gorge. And don't forget to call in at the world-famous asphalt mines in Val de Travers.
