Built in 1742 originally as a toll station, the restaurant lies in the centre of the Gemmi Pass, which connects the Bernese Oberland to the Valais.>This is the mid-way meeting point of the Gemmipass-Sunnbüel winter hiking tour. High-Alpine winter hiking trail (good hiking boots required), which is closed during inclement weather. Always check with the restaurant or the mountain cableways before setting off.
