The full programme: Idyllic mountain village or alpine metropolis? The twin communities of Crans and Montana embody both, and combine the conveniences of a modern holiday resort with abundant nature and a five-star panorama taking in the finest 4,000 m peaks: the Matterhorn, Mont-Blanc, Weisshorn and Dent-Blanche.

12-km run

The ski area includes more than 140 km of piste, from the high plateau all the way up to the Plaine Morte glacier at 3,000 m. Above the tree line the pistes are wide and open, with beginner runs as well as deep-powder descents; more challenging terrain is accessed from the La Toula chairlift. Especially popular are the carving pistes, and the famous valley run down from Plaine Morte: at 12 km, the longest in the region.

Crans-Montana is also famous for its outstanding calendar of events: everything from Ski World Cup races to the Champs Open by Rip Curl – a snowboarding and freeskiing contest – and, for music fans, the Caprices Festival. In winter the famous Severiano Ballesteros 18-hole golf course is transformed into a snowy playground for children and their parents, with snowtubing, a zip-wire, snowshoe trails, cross-country routes and winter walking paths.
