And that’s just for starters. Adelboden is Switzerland’s first accredited Alpine Wellness resort: from the local cuisine to a variety of energising activities, everything serves to make guests feel on top of the world. The resort is easy to reach via the Lötschberger train and connecting bus. Adelboden also offers magnificent ski touring, notably up on the Wildstrubel.

Double treat

With 56 modern ski lifts and 185 glorious kilometres of piste set against a spectacular mountain backdrop, the Adelboden–Lenk Snowsports Arena is one of Switzerland’s most varied, charming and attractive winter destinations. As well as demanding descents for experts and a permanent racing slope, the area has many easy to intermediate pistes – just perfect for carving, thanks to their generous dimensions. The Adelboden–Lenk region is famous not just for sports – but for its social life, too. With 36 mountain huts, restaurants and snow bars scattered along the 185 km of piste, visitors can reckon on stopping for a drink every five kilometres – a world record! And a very pleasant one, too: the vast majority of these venues are authentic, wonderfully cosy, and very atmospheric.

On 9 and 10 January 2010, Adelboden will burst into frenzy as the world’s top skiers race on the Chuenisbärgli: giant slalom on the Saturday, slalom on the Sunday. And between the two: the biggest party of the year.
