Slowly snaking its way up the mountain, the No. 10 bus from Vaduz passes through the picturesque village of Triesenberg with its views of the vast Rhine valley of St. Gallen far below and then suddenly plunges into a tunnel, at the other end of which is the quiet and secluded world of the Samina valley. The peacefulness of the place and of the village of Malbun really is balm for the soul. And there is more of the same to be had on this winter hike from Malbun up to Alp Sass and back again. The tour takes you through silent forests, at the same time treating you to some truly splendid views of the Pizol and Alpstein mountains. Wonderful!
Malbun - Sass - Malbun
The tour begins in the centre of Malbun, where you set off along the road in the direction of Vaduz. At the Alpenhotel annex, turn right up to the Friedenskapelle (Chapel of Peace). That is where the picturesque walk up to Sass begins. It takes just over an hour to get to Alp Sass. There, you will find a moderately steep trail signposted to Malbun and Steg that will take you back down into the valley bottom and on to Malbun.
