Situated high up on a hillside, the holiday resort of Bürchen commands fantastic views of the Rhône valley. Whereas the road winding up the hill from Visp to Bürchen is very dark and shady, the village itself is surprisingly sunny. Most of the houses there are holiday homes and they all enjoy superb views of the Rhône valley and the Walliser Alps. Piercing the horizon to the north is the impressive pyramid of the Bietschhorn, which is nearly 4000 m high. This winter hike takes you away from the hubbub of Ronalp and into the peaceful winter world of Hellela and back again. So immerse yourself and enjoy!

Ronalp - Hellela - Bürchen - Ronalp

The winter hike begins at Ronalp bus stop, where there is a wide trail leading in the direction of Zen Triegu. From there, continue uphill to Gärlich and on to the hamlet of Mittler Hellela. Simply follow the signs to Egga, where your descent back to Ronalp begins.
