The village of Les Diablerets is situated at the end of the road that passes over the Col du Pillon. The colossal cliffs and ice of the Diablerets massif loom large over the winter sports resort of the same name – so large as to look almost menacing. Indeed, this very striking massif will be a permanent presence on your hike from the Col du Pillon to Isenau as well. Starting at the pass, the trail leads through a snow-clad fir forest up to Lac Retaud and from there to Isenau. There, hungry hikers will be pleased to find a typical snow-shoe tavern and if the weather if fine, the views from the terrace are superb.
