Enjoyable white water in a stunning and beautiful landscape: Popular rafting trip suitable for everybody through the famous Vorderrhein Gorge (Ruinaulta) commonly known as the Swiss Grand Canyon.
When the large Rhine glacier retreated at the end of the last ice age, the Northern hillside – now location of Flims – lost its hold. 15 billions cubic metres of rock slid down and blocked the way of the river. Over the millenniums the water found its way through the soft limestone and thus created the famous gorge of the Ruinaulta, the Vorderrhein Gorge. At the bottom of the valley the river winds around white rock walls. Hiking trails from Flims and Trin lead you directly into this bizarre and wild gorge, which is also a popular rafting and canoe\kayak destination.

In fact, the Vorderrhein is one of the most popular white water destinations of the entire Alps. The section between Ilanz and Reichenau offers a great balance of enjoyable and fun white water rapids as well as exceptional landscape with vertical cliffs, deep canyons and steep gravel banks. Half- and full-day trips are on offer, as are overnight and special family trips.

In addition to rafting you can also enjoy the Vorderrhein with a hydro speed (river board), canoe or kayak.
