Adventure & Sports (Eastern Switzerland / Liechtenstein)
Swiss Waters
Lake Walen in eastern Switzerland lies between the cantons of St.Gallen and Glarus. On the northern side, the Churfirsten mountain chain rises nearly vertically out of the water, in some places over 1000 metres high. There are numerous little places along the shore, such as Quinten with its Mediterranean climate and Betlis with the imposing Seerenbach Waterfall. The boats run all year round, although in winter the service is limited to the connection from Murg to the otherwise inaccessible Quinten.
Measuring 64 km in length and 12 km at it widest point, Lake Constance, which is sited at the tripoint of Switzerland/Germany/Austria, is the third largest lake in Central Europe. The rolling landscape, the mild climate and a plethora of water sport and other leisure activities are responsible for attracting many holidaymakers and day trippers to Lake Constance, especially in the summer months.
Tin toboggans
In the pre-Alpine resort of Jakobsbad, near Urnäsch, you will find next to the Jakobsbad-Kronberg aerial cablecar the Appenzell Region's only bob sled run.
The first giant slide in Switzerland (700 m long, 126 m difference in altitude) is a great experience! Slide downhill on a single or on a double seat.
Via ferrata in Switzerland
The playground on the Braunwald mountain offers two seperate facilities for practicing climbing and roping down (levels 2 to 7).
Large, widely varied ridge crossing against a fantastic Alpine
backdrop; it features a short walk-in, plenty of action and a few
special highlights such as the large suspension bridge.
Tin toboggans
In Filzbach by the Kerenzer Mountain you will find Switzerland's most attractive summer toboggan run. First there"s the speed rush of the toboggan run and then the fun of a fast 4-km-long scooter ride .
Suspension Rope Parks
Kerenzerberg Mountain expands its offer. After the tobogganing run and the bike park, there is also an off-the-ground rope garden promising lofty thrills to adventurous guests. Different rope bridges at 12 to 18 meters above the ground and a 100-meter-long cable car set the scene for lofty adventures.
The existing leisure time offerings of Mt. Kronberg will be enhanced by an attractive fixed-rope park accessed via the aerial cable car Jakobsbad-Kronberg. It is an exciting and memorable experience to meet the challenge of exercising 3 to 8 meters above the ground, while observing all safety rules.
Switzerland is THE country for flying!
Typically, you can either fly from Walenstadt mountain, along the Churfirsten up to Ländle, or launch from the foot of mount Säntis at Wasserauen.
Fishing Museums
The history of navigation and fishing on Lake Constance (Upper Lake and Lower Lake) and, as a special attraction, paintings of Lake Constance and surrounding landscapes are on display.
Since 1996 the Fishing Museum of the Canton of Glarus has been housed a section of the cantonal fish breeding facility.
Swiss Waters
Passengers boarding a boat in Schaffhausen, at the foot of the Munot fortress, will pass by Hohenklingen castle and the cultural and vegetable island of Reichenau, in order to reach Konstanz (D) on the upper shores of the Lower Lake and, a little later, Kreuzlingen on Lake Constance. A 50-kilometre trip along the High Rhine, between Schaffhausen and ‘Stein am Rhein’ and on the Lower Lake, lasts nearly 5 hours and rightly ranks as one of Europe’s most glorious boat trips.
Canyoning
Die abwechslungsreiche Fallenbachschlucht bei Amden am Wallensee bietet tolles Canyoning in der Nähe von Zürich. Ideal für Einsteiger, interessant für Kenner.
