Excursions - Saignelégier (Neuchâtel / Jura / Bernese Jura)

The National horse market and show is an annual event that takes place over the second weekend in August in Saignelégier, at the heart of the Franches-Montagnes region.

This is an area of huge contrasts, where the seasons change suddenly. Franches-Montagnes is the region where the freedom that is so valuable to the Swiss people is most evident.

The Freiberge region of Canton Jura is paradise for horses, and its gently rolling hills are a paradise for riders, hikers and bikers too.

The nature reserve extending for approximately 1000 meters around the Etang de Gruère, the thousand-year-old pond in the peat bog near Saignelégier, is an ideal and popular place for observing birds, animals and plants. The postal coach (Postauto), or the Jura trains, will take you there.
