Kloster
Besides the Cathedral, this is the city's most important church.
The present building dates back to the 15th century, but it was entirely reconstructed from 1850 to 1854 and now is a basilica in neo-Gothic style.
The former convent of St. Katharinen was founded in 1228 and abolished 300 years later during the Reformation. Particularly noteworthy are the Gothic Cloister. In summer concerts take place in the courtyard.

Like many other famous buildings in Europe and Japan, the Markthalle in Altenrhein is an impressive example of the unusual architectural concepts of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the internationally acclaimed artist.
The Abbey Library St.Gallen is one of the oldest and most beautiful libraries in the world. Along with the whole abbey district, the library was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
St.Gallen embroidery has made the city famous far beyond its borders. For variety, the museum provides interesting and constantly changing exhibits. A visit to the Textile Museum can be perfectly tied into a city tour.
In the Art Museum you can find international contemporary sculptures, as well as paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries. The focus of the collection is the Dutch, German and French art. The neoclassical building was built in 1877 by the architect Johann Christoph Kunkler.
