The Romans were using the thermal springs - the richest in minerals in Switzerland - as early as 2000 years ago. Healing waters rise from 19 springs at 47°C, promoting physical, mental and spiritual equilibirum.

Thanks to the bequest by John A. Brown, a descendent of Sidney und Jenny Brown-Sulzer who died in 1987, Villa Langmatt was made accessible to the public as an Impressionist art and home decor museum. The Villa, built in 1900/01 by the architects Moser and Curjel, is home to a gallery with paintings by important French Impressionists and their forerunners.
Roughly 600 different teddy bears – big and small, fat and slim, very old ones and less old ones – have found a new home in this new museum.

Themes to do with the history of childhood concerning both small and older children are brought to life in twenty rooms. The focal themes of the permanent exhibition are the family and upbringing, games and toys, kindergarten and school, transport, media, leisure, sport and much more.
The museum is dedicated to the history of the town and the Baden region. In the prominent new building by Katharina and Wilfried Steib, a ramp leads back into the past. Life-like special exhibitions help to highlight the changes in the surroundings and society, in everyday life and in the way people live together.
Summer mountain tips
The small town of Baden has Switzerland’s most mineral-rich thermal spring water. But it is also Baden’s cultural offerings and the redeveloped areas and buildings from the time of its industrial heyday which add to the appeal of this small town situated at the gateway to Zurich.
